A Rustic, Elegant Spring Wedding at Swann Lake Stables

September 19, 2024

I felt like I clicked with Emma from the moment we first spoke! We spent just under a year together planning this amazing day (which also happened to be her birthday!!) for she and her fiance, Alex. Emma was a soon to be Birmingham girl as she soon moved down to start optometry school and Alex planned to move here to join her at wedding time. Though both of them were from other states and had no former ties to Alabama, they thought there was no better place to get married than the place they would begin their lives together. How lucky am I that they chose Birmingham and me!

Emma and Alex envisioned a wedding day that felt like a family reunion. She wanted intentional time to love on her guests, to be able to kick her shoes off and be carefree (spoiler alert: she did!), and for everyone to just have the best time being together and celebrating. She chose a sage green and burnt orange color scheme that gave the most beautiful, peaceful, and rustic vibe. And complimented the venue, Swann Lake Stables, so perfectly! We kept an all white and greenery floral design which complimented all of our elements so well. Our big floral wow factor of the day was the stunning fireplace arrangements complete with a mantle arrangement and flowers and candles in the fireplace itself. It was a dream!!

Emma and Alex’s day began with the most special first look by the Cahaba River where they shared private vows and got to soak in some time together. We then got these two married in a beautiful and holy ceremony at St. Francis. As guests entered the cocktail hour they were greeted by a fun photo op for the guest book, shelves of champagne, and the new Putz Family – Emma, Alex, and their pups Oakley and Rigsby! Starting the reception off greeting each and every guests as they entered was a true testament to how well Emma and Alex love and appreciate their people. The rest of the evening went just as they hoped – good food, good company, intentional time, and lots of celebrating on the dance floor. I even got a chance to surprise Emma with a birthday cake as we all sang her happy birthday! It’s hard to choose a favorite design element or moment in this day because it was all so special and most importantly SO them.

Emma and Alex, you are true joy inside and out! I am so thankful to know you both and to have played a part in the start of your lives together. Cannot wait to see where life takes The Putzes!!
